The DS Blues

What can I say. I thought I had mustered some more energy to resume daily blogging on the DS but who am I kidding. I am still stinging from having to re-purchase the damned thing after losing it and I just have not built up the same level of steam I had earlier. In fact it sort of makes me sick to look at my new DS.

Another part of the problem may be that we are still some ways off from writing code for the DS and while for a lot of people this whold DS homebrew race is about hacking hardware plain and simple, I am a developer through and through, and am more excited by seeing my code running then anything else.

Add to it the great job of coverage that is being done so far, I think I'm going to take a hiatus on DS dev blogging and finally turn my attention to other subjects that I've been eager and promising to get to.

Don't tune me out completely though, I will be back on the DS sooner than later, that much I promise you.

Back in the saddle..

Ok, my new DS arrived to day and I'm feeling better. Here comes a flurry of posts to make up for my absence. I realise a lot of it will be old news but I feel a need to regurgitate to get the juices flowing. There's not too much to blog about in terms of DS hacking these days, things are still in the early stages, so bare with me while I refocus my efforts.

He was a good friend...

I haven't blogged in over a week. Why? Well I've been in a funk over the loss of my Nintendo DS which also held within it my Flash2Advance Ultra with several of my demos. Losing $400 worth of rare gadgetry of this kind is enough to give you writer's block.

I may decide to switch gears on DS blogging for a while, at least until my replacement unit comes (which I ordered off of EBay at a 75% markup).

I'll be back.

Forgive me...

I know I have failed you :) I promised the first of several C++ postings no later than yesterday. No go. DS hacking has kept me busy along with the usual work that feeds the mouths. I am aiming to knock it out over the weekend. Have faith ;)

DS Homebrew Resources

I've updated the "Ports of Call" post to include Spicious' site (which I suspiciously left out - get it?). I've also added a link list to the right-most column of this page, in the upper area. It's easier to use that than to go fishing for the aforementioned post. Enjoy.

Hold your horses!

I am getting loud feedback from friends on this "DS blog". Very cute, but this is not a DS blog or a DS site. I realize I have listed other topics in the tagline and I don't intend to ignore them. The topics will begin to splinter onto other subject matters very soon, it just happens that the DS is the more interesting item at the moment and I haven't had the time to give the attention to other areas.

I promise a series of probing posts on C++ by midnight Thursday morning (Dec 2nd), in particular on meta-programming and the STL. And even before that I will have a few sprinkled posts on gaming, 3D engines and baseball AI. Do stay tuned ;)
